I had the pleasure of meetig some of the boy's in Denver back in July and want to thank them for being so gracious to my daughter and I. I picked up your new c.d. that same night and have trans formed my entire family into "Elders" fans. Will be in K.C. for the Irish fest and my youngest daughter (only four years old) cannot wait to see you live. (I think we can expect great things of her) Thanks for the great shows and the great music keep it up!
I just have to thank you all for being such amazing gentlemen tonight at Saint Ann's. I was there, not as a member of the parish; but as a fan. And then there was that beautiful, strong-willed 7-year old, who come Hell or high water was going to dance beside you all on stage. I never caught her name; but she was absolutely amazing! She rallied all the other girls to the side of the stage, and waited for a cue (any cue) that it was okay to run up on stage. I thank you. I know you made her night. I know that just seeing her up there dancing about you made mine. Thank you. For being wonderful musicians, amazing daddys, and beautiful people. I have some pictures and clips from the show tonight... if you'd like me to share them with you, please let me know. My sincerest admiration
We just saw you for the first time this past weekend at the Dayton Celtic Festival--We loved you so much after seeing you friday night that we came back for more on Saturday. I am interested in the song about your fathers--what is the title?? Thanks for a great time. You are fantastic!!!!!!
just to let you know, we saw you guys at the Milwaukee Irish fest and you guys have the BEST live show of all the Irish bands we have seen. We've seen Gaelic Storm, Young Dubs, The Fenians, and many more, but you guys ROCK! The show was super fun and kept us on our feet the whole time. The Sat. night show was especially fun when you had all the other peeps on the stage with you like the drummer from Enter the Haggis. Thanks for the great show. If we ever get anywhere near KC we will look you up FOR SURE! And if you ever get into the Northwest, NOrth Idaho, please let us know.
My husband and I were first timers at Milwaukee Irish fest. After 3 years of nagging from Mil. in-laws we were fortunate to make it there to hear your band. The whole thing was a blast but you guys impressed us the MOST! Sure wish we could do that tour w/ you- someday! Keep up the great work and hope to see you in WI more often!!!!
We'll be spreading the word for sure!
Hi Elders!
I just "discovered" you at Irish Fest in Milwaukee this weekend and loved you! I want to know all about your tour to Ireland next March as I'm very interested in going with you.
Thanks!
ey....we just saw you at IrishFest in Milwaukee. GREAT SHOW! Your harmony is the BEST....and your energy and enthusiasm were catchy. And....the security guards didn't kick my sisters-in-law and myself off the table as we were standing, clapping and rocking to your music. Can't wait till next year!
Finally got to see you guys at (Milwaukee) Irishfest...Really great and you do put a lot into your performances. I look forward to seeing you again and hopefully before next Irishfest.
Hi there...great show last night. I love the way you work the room. Your energy is contagious and was exemplified last night! It was obvious that there were just a few true Elders believers when the show began, but there were many converts by the end of the show!
You seem to give the same energy for a few hundred as you do for a few thousand...and that is appreciated, and so smart...but I know it isn't easy. Thank you.
I just want you all to know how much my husband & I enjoy your music. There is something to it that touchs one deep down inside & makes you want to move. You presentation is wonderful. We hope to be able to follow you & your music for many, many years to come.
Thanks again for sharing your gift with all of us.
Was able to see the Elders at Irish fest in Milwaukee in Aug. Great show. Purchased your latest cd.
Your band rocked at milwaukee's irishfest last weekend. my nephew and i love your music and can't wait to at grant park's celticfest in chi town.....
To all the Elders - HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!
Comments: My Husband and I enjoyed the concert at Milw. Irish Fest. We went Saturday and Sunday. We brought friend from Dayton Ohio, who have gotten hooked on your music. Good luck and we hope you are around alot of years. We missed you in colo. by a week, but saw you in dayton and Milw.
Impaitently waiting for the Kansas City Irish Fest. Can't come soon enough.
Been a fan since the beginning. Can't wait to hear you again.......
Thanks.
I love your music and would love to hear about any shows in Colorado. Also, my fiancee and I just decided to play "Love of the Century" at our wedding as our song. Thanks for the great music!
Saw you three times at Milwaukee Irish Fest. Loved your music and your energetic performances. I've been listening to your CD ever since. Hope you come back next year.
Wow, what a great start for your first performance in Milwaukee! This was also my first attendance of the Milwaukee festival and I can assure you it wont be the last. My wife and I drove over on Thursday to spend the weekend with our middle son and his wife who just relocated from Prairie Village so that he can do a 3-year cardiology fellowship to complete his medical education before returning home to officially launch his career.
Hi guys,
Well, the wait was worth it, my impatience was well rewarded! Congratulations on yet another cd filled with superb musicianship, wonderful creativity and the fun which shines through in the performance as will as in the rhythms and melodies.
Fellas,
Its been about seven years since I've been electrified by a group/artiste/genre and I'm delighted to say that it has happened for me with the music of The Elders. You have the most exciting combination of talents I've heard in yonks (& one way or another, I've been involved with music since birth)
Saw you tonight on WHYBE public TV and you were great!!! Please PLEASE let me know if you'll be playing anywhere on the east-coast - I'd LOVE to see you live!! I'll bet the energy is AWESOME!
Hey Guys!
My friends and I saw your show last night at the Gothic in Denver and I have to say, it was one of the best performances I have ever seen. No matter how many shows I go to, they always seem to get better and better. A couple of my friends, who hadn't seen you before, were skeptical when I told them how great you were, but after the show they agreed it was about the most amazing thing they had ever seen! I can't wait for your new cd to come out and to see you again this summer at the Colorado Irish Festival!
Last nights show was FANTASTIC!! MY family had a riot! You boys were made for the stage. Absolutely the best band I've ever heard. The place was packed and "The Elders" are the talk of the town!!! Please come back to Wilmington. It was pure entertainment.
I am listening to your live cd right now. I love it! THANKS!!
I was born in Ireland and adopted here to St. Louis by Irish immigrants. All my life I have been around Irish music, song and dance. I even performed in an Irish band as lead singer for several years. I have never in my life heard such an incredible sound, felt such energy and excitement until I saw you for the first time at the Kansas City Celtic Festival this Labor Day. My sister and friend went and we are still high off the energy from your fantastic sounds. What inspired me the most is that all ranges of people were there. Young and old alike rocking to this blast of music. You are fantastic. I hope you get to St. Louis sometime. You'd blow this town away.
God bless you for all that you have done.
Have you thought about sending some of your CDs over to our troops in the service??? I would be happy to donate to that cause, if you would. I believe that our troops would love your music, and would share your love of this great music with all the people that they would come across. Think about it..
God Bless you again, and America loves you all...
I was able to see The Elders for the first time Friday night at the Scottish festival in Riverside and was totally blown away. I have been a fan of this style of music for some time but had never had the chance to see this group. I knew after the very first song that I would be in for a treat, what a GREAT performance!
Lots of energy, great showmanship, the music was fantastic! I'm hooked.
Looking forward to seeing you guys down at the Crown Center Irish festival.
Just received my copy of the DVD and CD of Live at the Gem. The CD has great sound and mixing. One of the best live albums I've ever heard. Brent really kicks it on Turnpike. Doesn't miss a note even when Ian pushes him to the "smoke" limit. The only thing that is missing is the din created by the tremendous crowd that night. Anyone listening to the CD that wasn't there won't get the feel for the awesome roar of the crowd. Which is why once in a while you've got to get off your arse and go experience the privilege of hearing the Boys in concert. Thanks, Elders
I must tell you and your band that you sure hit a high note here in Canada. (Almonte Celtfest) Everyone I have spoken to just raves about your performance as well as your display of compassion for the crowd especially with the little ones. thank you for the wonderful show and I hope to see all of you again.
Gentlemen, Our family attended your concert at the Irish Festival in Fairfield, CT yesterday. What a rocking time that was . . . . . the tent must have really been strongly tethered to the earth to keep you guys from blowing it off!! Loved all the great music and you guys were unbelievably tight. Just ordered your live cd from the web site. Hope you'll consider coming back to the NYC-Connecticut area soon.
Hey guys, I saw you in Peoria, Illinois and thought you guys rocked. It was traditional music but it wasn't boring, it was fun and exciting and being an Irish dancer at home I play you're cd American Wake and dance to it or play my bodhran along thanks for the awesome music. I would love to see you all again. thanks!!
Hello I am a new fan of yours and I would like to thank you for coming out to Dallas and sharing your time with us. My sister and I both heard you at the Irish Fest and hope other young people have the chance to hear and see the Celtic energy that you spread every time you play. Thank you for a great show keep up the great work
Saw you at the '04 Texas Irish Fest and loved it...came home and ordered all 3 CD's on the spot. Saw you again this year and I think they were even better the second time around! You are one of the (if not the) highest-energy band at the festival. Not that I don't like some of the more traditional Celtic music, but nothing got the crowd toe-tapping, clapping and dancing like the Elders!
Applause! Applause! Thank you for appearing at the North Texas Irish Festival over the weekend. My sons and I caught the afternoon show. We had never heard of the Elders before the concert began. What can I say
It was their first concert of any sort. And we're all still talking about it and recommending you to our friends. We purchased the live c.d. But nothing can be as good as the Elders in person. Thank you for making it not only suitable for all ages but for even including the children in your performance. It was special. Please, please come back.
It was a pleasure and privilege to work with The Elders on their debut tour to Canada. People here who attended the Almonte, Ontario Celtfest 2005, and the pre-festival concert at our Old Town Hall Auditorium are still raving about the superb performances The Elders gave, and the fun, and sheer joy that the "lads" (Ottawa Valley expression for every male from infancy to age 100+) inspired in all of us. In today's world where we are all contending with all kinds of stuff, an evening with The Elders reminds us that life is indeed a grand time, and being able to share that experience with people all around clapping, singing, dancing, and at times jumping to their music...well it does not get any better than this. Hello Steve, Ian, Norm, Tommy, Brent, & Brett!! Guys, I saw (the Gem concert) the first night on Channel 19 and was so delighted to see what a great show it was and how well done by both you and the station! Couldn't bring myself to brave Westport yesterday but hope those shows went well. Great article yesterday too (in the Kansas City Star)! Way to go for controlling your own destiny. One of the few things I miss about KKFI is not being able to boost the efforts of fine artists such as yourselves. Between you and Eddie, you've got a convert; I tried not to like Celtic music for a long time, for no particular reason and nonsensical taken alongside my then love for bluegrass. Oh well. It's better liking it than trying to think up reasons not to.
Greetings lads, Wow! What a great show last night!!! We had so much fun. It was so exciting. You guys were awesome, like always. I can't wait to see the video. I'm sure KCPT will get a whole bunch of new viewers once they see your video. (I hope they air it in St. Louis, we have family there and I know they would enjoy it.) We are so glad we got to be a part of it all. We were up in the rowdy section, the one with , as Ian put it , the Catholics. Yea, that's us. Keep up the good work.
Hello. I have a 6 year old son, Brendan, who has autism. I want to thank you for your music because it has helped Brendan to interact and open up. When I play your music he has less "meltdowns" and lately has been better able to manage his behavior. When he does good I let him listen to one of your songs, and if he has a good day he can listen to as many as he wants. He is speaking better because he sings along to your songs. He really likes your music and I know if it wasn't for your music he may not have done as well as he is doing. There is no cure for autism but your music sure helps Brendan, and I want to once again thank you for your music. The future looks brighter for Brendan now.
Alright Lads, Not to gush or anything, but UNBELIEVEABLE performance Friday night. No doubt everything was firing on all 12 cylinders. The acoustics were perfect, you could hear the harmonies, and every instrument beautifully.
Not to mention the fact that it was a rocking good time. Production was professional and top notch. The DVD will unquestionably be a huge success. Kudos to the CKC girls as well. You should all be very proud.
My husband, daughter & friend, and myself attended the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia this year. My husband and myself visited the Budweiser Tent. We listened to your group "The Elders" as long as we could until the concert started. I have a listing of the upcoming events. We plan to make the December 10th event in Omaha, Nebraska. My son lives there. So we are really excited about the trip to Omaha! I have order your 1st Cd also. See you in Omaha on the 10th & 11th. I just wanted to thank you so much for playing "Moore Street Girls" for Isabella on Saturday night in Weston. That little girl was on cloud nine for a long time!! I overheard her telling her cousins the next day that she was friends with one of the Elders!! That song was definately a highlight of her 6 1/2 years! I just wanted to thank you and tell you that she and Hannah are both very excited to see you guys again. (So are her parents!!!) They will for sure be at the next all ages show!!
I am just writing to let you guys know that you blew my socks off at your show opening for the Dubs in Grand Junction, CO. I just got internet access, so this is my first opportunity to let you know that any time you ever come back to GJ, I'll be there. Your songs are meaningful, soulful, powerful and well orchestrated, and your stage presence is phenomenal. I went to see the Dubs show (my 11th time!), but you guys made me believe in opening bands again after quite a few bad experiences. Keep up the good work and come see us again (as headliners!) really soon. You're the only group that was able to make our town get up and dance last summer. Quite an accomplishment. I was there, and was one of a few that bought all three of your cd's in one shot, I'm glad I did. Though I miss hearing the washboard Ian was using during the concert.
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your performance at the KC Irish Fest. My friend Sammi and I were in the front row on the Saturday night performance and we were hootin' and hollerin' like two crazy people. We are in choir at Longview Metropolitan Community College and when we came back to class that following Wednesday, we had lost our voices from singing soooo loud! Cool, huh? The teacher didn't seem to think so...(she hasn't seen you guys perform yet!) We will be seeing you guys at the Weston Irish festival coming up here in October. We are looking forward to the performance. See ya later. We (me and my friend Martha) went to the Irish fest in Denver because Martha had just come back from Ireland and she thought it might be fun. Little did we know we would instantly get hooked on a band we never heard. We listened to your 1st set for the last 15 minutes and instantly walked over and bought a CD. Thanks go out to you and the other guys for being so accessible after the show. You, specifically asked Martha what her name was and then called her by her name for the rest of the conversation. What a great little touch to make us feel welcome during our talk and not feel like we were bothering you for an autograph. Then we hung around for no other reason but to hear your second set. What fun!! All you guys seemed to be having fun and it really gets everyone involved. For me, the set hit many emotions. Happiness, sadness, patriotism, etc. When you had us point to the sky and wave to someone we recently lost and then you sang "Boys of Erin" (I think that what it is called), it hit me hard. My Godson was recently killed in a car accident leaving a wife and four children between 2 and 9 years old. I almost cried. But minutes later I was back having a great time again. Well, that's the long way to tell you that we think you guys are great and we already have our tickets for Estes Park, Colorado on September 11th! Also, I'm spreading the news to everyone about the Elders! I've got relatives in Portland OR that want to see you if you ever get up there. And I'm not even Irish!
Hey guys! you guys are an amazing band!!! Really and truly. I just saw you at the Colorado Irish Fest for the second year in a row and you rocked the house. My buddy and I bought all your cds last week. We were at a karaoke bar last night and getting bored so we said hell with
that and we would go back home and listen to you guys instead! We jammed along till 3am! no joke.
It was terrific to talk to you at the Rio Rancho Highland Games. At a small event it's great that the band is so accessible. It was hard for me to believe that I could basically be "backstage". Your openness both on and off stage with the fans, musicians (law enforcement officers - looking for Bailey's) is extraordinary. We'll try to get to one of the shows that you guys will be doing in Colorado this July but if not . . . see you in Estes Park! Thanks and safe travels,
I just wanted to thank you for your performances in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The music and the atmosphere were incredibly uplifting, we could have sat there listening all day... well... we did! My daughter Moriah hasn't stopped listening to your music since we bought your CD at the festival (I am going to have to make copies so that I can listen to them!). We've always enjoyed Irish music and The Elders have given it a face, and wonderful face it is! I told you that it seems as though you live a good life, and that is evident in the music you perform and the passion you put into it - a true gift. Thank you for sharing it with us and sharing your good life with us, the Irish/Scottish New Mexicans. I hope you will return to New Mexico, we will assuredly keep our eyes open for you.
You played our small show as though it were a huge venue and made us all feel great!! You truly did us proud! Thank you for a wonderful night guys!!!
thank you guys so much for performing great with tons of energy despite the low attendance. the people that did attend will talk about this for a long time and i have already heard how disappointed some people are for not going now. you guys are great and again thank you for coming to our small town.
anybody checking this out and wondering or not to book this GREAT BAND! DO IT! there is absolutely no chance of a disappointment, but do it now before they get so big they are unavailable.
To be honest, I had never heard of the Elders prior to this show. However, I very much enjoyed the music and entertainment they provide, so I bought two of their CDs. For whatever reason some people did not attend the event, intended as a benefit show, all I can say is they missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. I so very much appreciate that the band gave their all, despite a poor showing of the local community. I hope they return, and that more people will support them and the cause. Thank you, guys!!! I hope to see you again.
oon. Thank you for your long travels and incredible energy.
Make a note to self: Have Elders CD in playing when speeding thru Pierce City. From all the people in Pierce City, Thanks for a great show
Woo Hoo!! We (Meghan & Jill) just saw you preform at Celebrate Lincoln on April 30- WHAT A GREAT TIME!! There is something about you guys that can get a whole crowd of strangers on their feet and dancing with eachother! It really is a great thing to be a part of, and thank you so much for giving us the opportunity! We've not danced so hard in a long long time! We keep you guys turned up here at work, and dance our way to the fax machine- thank you thank you thank you!! Since the concert we've prominently displayed the beer bracelets that Ian so graciously signed as badge of honor!! (Happy B-day again to Norm!) We are looking forward to seeing you at the KC Irish Fest!!! Keep up the good work boys- We love you!!
I very much enjoyed your show in Pierce City,MO last night. I am very sorry that more local citizens did not attend to show their support. However, I hope you know many people enjoyed your show, and you added some cultural quality to an otherwise limited area. I hope to see you again, perhaps at the state fair. Thank you for contributing to our local cause.
I recently saw you in Lincoln, Ne. on April 30th. I was absolutely "WOWED" by your performance, and will definitely be out looking for your CD's and keeping your website on my Favorites on AOL. Thank you so much! My father passed away a year ago on April 30th, so seeing you, and hearing you was a gift from him to me, to take my sadness, and turn it into your joyful music.
God Bless all of you!
It was very cool. I have never heard music like that before. Come again. The Moore street s were cool. They just danced all night.
Greetings! I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your music! The first time I heard about you was on the Mike Murphy show on 710AM - You are such a treat for us Kansas City residents! I've been listening to your 2000 self-titled CD and am looking forward to more in the future. Although your songs are of this generation, you've really been able to really capture the flavor of "Old World" Ireland.
Well I just wanted to say killer show last night in Detroit. You guys changed my girlfriend into a Celtic music fan, the energy was awesome. Oh, ten-pound earhole, what a Classic!
Thank you for taking the time to talk to me and sign my CD cover this past weekend (at the Taste O' Green Festival in Chicago). Your showmanship was incredible and seeing The Elders play live was the highlight of my weekend trip to Chicago. I loved your cover song of Steve Earle's "Galway Girl." It was really sweet bringing the kids onto the stage during your last song. Thanks again and keep playing!
Man.you guys are unreal....saw you in Grand Rapids and that rendition of the Waterboys song blew me away.....here I am a 50 year old guy and you guys blew me away....I hope you take the Country by storm....you deserve it.....what a show....what a night....thanks...
Hey Brent and you other rockin' dudes. It was great working with you lads at last weekend's NTIF. You sure stole our hearts, to be sure. I'm glad that things went well. I hope you enjoyed your visit as much as we enjoyed having you.
Hope to have ya'll back!!
Wow! What a GREAT show the Elders put on for us in Texas this past weekend. I went to the festival with some reservations as to the quality of music I would hear. I sat through several bands, with simple, polite applause for their performances. When I heard the Elders, however, that applause went to constant clapping and stamping of the feet to their wonderful music. If that's Kansas City's best kept secret, it's out now! You're lucky to have them near you to hear frequently. Thank you, Elders, for the excellent performance and your visit to Texas. You left me a fan forever.
Was blessed to see the Elders for three days in Dallas this past week-end at the North Texas Irish Festival and was blown away. I purchased all three CD's and love each of them. I did especially enjoy when Ian told the story behind where certain songs came from. Might be interesting if you added a discography page to the site, with info on the songs and their origins. I think it goes without saying (but can't resist) that Texas LOVED The Elders this weekend. Great music, high energy, super friendly folks - just what we needed to put a cap on this year's Irish Festival.
Holy Cow!!!! A tornado from Kansas City, hit Dallas Texas hard this weekend. Witnesses were left speechless and exhausted as this mighty force pummeled its relentless energy with no mercy into our hearts.
Those of us who have survived this onslaught will never forget when "The Elders" came to town and stole our hearts. Thank you boys for your passion and your energy. I went to all four of your shows. "Men of Erin" is an incredible song. It deserved the standing ovation it got every time you sang it. Thank you for that song. We need you boys back here again soon. Otherwise, we Texans are coming across the border to invade Kansas.
I ran across your web address via a Kansas message board, and the person who posted the message was from California - and I'm in Indiana - but I just want you to know that your music is very refreshing - and I plan on purchasing your cds!!!! You have acquired a new listener, and I'm a 56 year old grandmother!!!! Do you know what radio station in the Indianapolis area your music would be played on? Q95 is the major rock station - Bob & Tom host it and they are now syndicated across the nation. Looking forward to good times!!!!
Top of Form Jan 24 was my first Molloy's show and I took my best friend for her second Elder's show and her fiancee who had never seen them before because he had to leave the Weston Irish Fest early for work. We ended up getting there around 6:30 just like someone suggested on here and we were glad because the tables were taken but we managed to get a booth. We ended up killing time by eating (great food!) and talking until Ellis Island performed (I really liked them) and finally the Elder's. I don't know what was going on at Molloy's on Saturday night, but you guys ROCKED! It was almost spiritual...in a Celtic Rock sort of way! Best ever, if that's even possible. Scott and I talked all the way home about how you guys take it to a new level with every performance. What a great evening! And we were only going to stop by for a short while...yeah, right! Whatever you're doing, keep doing it! It was FANTASTIC!
I am not Ellen, but I can assure you that you miss a fantastic night with the Elders! The fact that the parking lot was jammed is the first clue that the Elders are playing. It was Standing Room Only, and we loved every moment of it. As others have said and I will echo, The Lads sound better every time we hear them. It is truly and experience to see these extremely talented people take the stage. They mesh together so well, you hear it in the music and see it in their eyes. It fills the air with electricity. You should have been there.
I am disappointed that there are no CO dates for 2004 yet. We would even be willing to venture out to a bar to hear you play in the Denver area although we prefer outdoor/mountain festivals! The first & second time we enjoyed your music was at the Highlands Scottish Festival in Estes Park. The Elders play so tightly we were surprised (but kind of glad) that the band wasn't one of the headliners in the big tent! Your music so enthralled us that we only saw the other festival events during your breaks. Of course it could have been your convenient location near the Whiskey tent. We have introduced many friends to your 3 CD's but hearing & seeing your enthusiastic musical talent live is what really sold us! Even with some of sad & serious lyrics most of your music is upbeat & happy & you can't help but smile & at least tap your feet. Please let us know when you schedule your next CO event! And how could we get you to play at our wedding, date TBD in no great hurry?
The Elders are the Joss Stone of Irish music. Who would believe that American rockers can sound like this? We've never had a more energetic, fun in-studio experience. Have the Elders visit your studio. If you don't have a good time you're probably dead
Molloy's last Saturday night, was great. This is an incredible opportunity to see a professional show in a great venue with "brilliant" atmosphere all for $10. My advice! Go early and get a table up front. The word will spread rapidly. "What a night" Who is playing support this week?
I have attended the festivities at the Hiatt for the last 3 years in a row. I had heard of The Elders, but that night was the first time I have ever seen you guys. I cannot believe this band is from KC. So much culture and passion delivered in a way you just could not ignore. I cannot believe this band is not famous all around the World. (Maybe you are) There were obviously a lot of Elders fans in the crowd. That was evident in the reaction to the songs. But there were also a lot of astonished people all around the stage and on the balconies listening in Awe to these guys. Everybody was dancing and singing and smiling and just plain absorbing a beautiful experience. Thank you Elders for a memorable evening.
Last night's concert at Rockhurst was awesome. I own one of your CDs but had not seen you live. Consider me a regular from now on. Your music speaks to the Irish soul, and makes me so proud of my heritage. I wish my father were still alive to hear it.
Hey Guys, Just want to thank you for another kik arse show up in Lincoln, last Friday. My girlfriend, her parents and I saw you fellas here last summer and were very impressed. So when we heard you were back, there really wasnt a question of what we were doing last Friday. You are probably one of the only bands that we all enjoy. We bought your CD's and cannot wait til you guys come back! You are welcome here ANYTIME!!!! Once again Thank you! And keep doin what your doin, We love it!
We would like to thank you all for letting us get up on that stage with you in Lincoln. We had so much fun, it was truly an experience. Thank you for all of the great music you produce. I have been dancing around my house with your songs stuck in my head since then. You are
all truly awesome. We hope to see you all soon, and we're hoping to
make it to the Irish Fest in Kansas City this year as well. Again, thank you all and keep it up. Thanks a Ton, Jacquie, Patty, Erin, Katie, Leigh, and Annie
Recently saw you at the North Texas Irish Fest and parted with more money in order to buy "American Wake", and that was because it had 14 tunes on it. Listened all the way home, (2 Hours) and have played it
daily since then. I've lent it to my friend who was with me at the fest, and I'm telling you that I am having withdrawals already...and I haven't left the building!!! Thank you for your wonderful music. You have a bevy of new devotees in East Texas, I guarantee!! (A couple of them are originally from Scotland, too.) We are searching your web site to see if you'll be anywhere close to us again. Cannot wait...have ears, will travel. Best of luck to you in the future.
I had the pleasure of attending the NTIF this past weekend. Little did I know that I would have the privilege of hearing the "ELDER's" > for the first time. I haven't enjoyed myself so much in years. The audience participation , especially the children, was wonderful. I haven't been moved to get out of my chair and holler since the 70's in Austin , Texas listening to Asleep at the Wheel and the Grateful Dead. Hope to see you in Texas again or at the Festival in Estes Park. Sincerely, Your newest fan,
Was blessed to see the Elders for three days in Dallas this past> week-end at the North Texas Irish Festival and was blown away. I purchased all three CD's and love each of them. I did especially enjoy when Ian told the story behind where certain songs came from. Might be interesting if you added a discography page to the site, with info on the songs and their origins. Planning on coming to KC for Labor Day weekend festival. Counting the days (179?).
Good Morning, I saw you yesterday at the North Texas Irish Festival. Wow. You guys were great. We bought your "Pass it on down" CD and I really like it and plan to get "America Wake" soon. My husband told me that the song you did, "Galway Girl" was a cover song, while I love the way you did it I was told it was not on any of your CD's. Do you know where I can find a copy of that song, or even if that is the name, there is a line that says something like "long black hair and blue eyes, I lost my heart to a Galway Girl". I appreaciate your help in finding this song (or look forward to it on one of your CD's ?!?!?!).
Saw you in Lexington, Kentucky in February when you performed with Robert Lockwood, Jr. Your show was one of the best I have ever seen! I have always liked Celtic music, but your songs and energy gave it a depth and presence which has remained with me since the show. Having come to the show to see Robert Lockwood, I knew nothing of the Elders. From beginning to the end, each song was great!!! I bought two CD's that night and have listened to them many times since then. Being from Pike County, Kentucky (in the Eastern tip next to Virginia) I will have to travel a bit to see you again. However, you will see me again, for I enjoyed your music so much. I did not have a chance to meet you the night of your performance, but I look forward to meeting you sometime in the future. My wife agrees that we will travel whatever distance necessary to see and hear you perform. Please put me on any mailing list you have to receive updates on the Elders.
Thank you
Just a note to ALL the members of the band: Thank you kindly for sharing your music and your enthusiasm with the Woodsongs crew and audience last night! You were a big hit in Kentucky! We hope that you consider coming to perform on the show again sometime in the future--celtic music is always a favorite of our Lexington audience and your positive energy lit a fire under us all last night--the audience members were so excited as they left! Best wishes for your continued success and please let us know when you're performing in the area--many of the crew like to take short road trips to support bands who have performed with us!
My wife and I attended your show on Friday Feb 13th, the UMKC group.
WOW !! what a show. It was amazing to see everyone dancing. Your music is very powerful. I especially liked your focus on freindship. There is nothing more important in life. I have loved Irish traditional music all my life and now I am growing in a appreciation for Irish Rock.
I was raised in Kansas City for 29 years, and moved to Philadelphia in 1990. I came home this summer and went to the Irish Festival and saw you guys. I was so floored that I bought the American Wake CD. It was a pleasure to meet the band after your set. I think I was the ONLY guy there in a kilt... besides the bagpiper for Seven Nations!
I am the owner of the USAKilts company. We have a store in Audubon, PA (suburban Philadelphia) and we get a ton of traffic... both at the store and on our website: (http://usakilts.com). At the store, your American Wake CD is on the music rotation. It ALWAYS gets comments! I noticed your address on the site, and it's awfully close to where my wife grew-up. Let's see if I can't move 1300 miles away just to help an old local band!
My 97 year old father is one of your biggest fans. He says your music reminds him of the old days when his father (an Irish fiddler) used to play with the local fellas back on the farm in Illinois, outside of Chicago. Of course the music they played was basically Irish, but it was also mixed with a good dose of American Bluegrass. (Sound familiar?) We saw you last year at the Celtic Festival and the New Years Eve Party at Estes Park. We had a blast. This 2004, we are getting a large group friends to come join us and we plan to watch you play both at the
fairgrounds and the New Years eve party. We can't wait to see you again. A bunch of us have already booked our cabins 9 months in advance in anticipation of partying with the Elders. See ya in September!
I just wanted to tell you that I got your American Wake CD on the 25th as a gift, and (I'm sure you've heard this a million times already) it's incredible. I really like "men of Erin" the words are simple, but the tune and message is great. I've already almost
memorized all the songs... Their extremely easy, and fun to play on the whistle, especially Hornpipe (I think thats what it's called... it's harder than the other ones though... I like how it keeps getting faster) Oh and Haverty Boys is hilarious. I was laughing for a whole minute (not really) when I first heard it, especially when you yelled "SHUT UP" at the end. It reminded me of when John Paul is randomly banging on his drums and I can't stand it any longer, so I tell him to shut up...
THANK-YOU,THANK-YOU for another great show this weekend in Omaha,NE.My wife and I have made it the last two years to your shows
on or around our aniversary and always know we picked the best way to celibrate is by going to your shows. You guys are the best we have ever gotten to see live, you are just awsome and such nice people. Thanks for the dedication of "love of the century" to my wife and I on friday night, that made it that much more special for us.THANK-YOU.
Caught your show last week at the Grand in Killarney (Ireland). Who knew I'd fly all that way to hear a celtic Rock band from back here in the States... and LOVE it. Great show!
Imagine my total surprise to hear the best sound and soul I have ever been blessed to hear!!! I especially liked "Men of Erin". Thank you for a truly enjoyable experience! I sure wish you could bottle your enthusiasm--I would be the first in line for a purchase! My mouth has not yet recovered from smiling! You do an old woman of 50 good! ha ha ha Bless you all!
Well lads, whats the craic?! Dancing Viv here still trying to get me legs back to normal after the gig in the Royal (Ireland) last week. Was a great gig and i really enjoyed meself but there will have to be something done about the lack of dancing!!
I have been listening to the cd all week but there's only one problem - my bedroom is too small to dance in!
Look forward to seeing you all again soon, maybe in London next year? I have to teach them brits a thing or too about dancing!
le grá
Hey guys I just thought I'd drop a line to tell you how much we enjoyed seeing you in Estes Park, CO at the Highlands festival. Julia and Kate are still talking about how Ian called them up on to the stage to dance. We're listening to American Wake right now! Moore St. Girls is our new favorite song. We'll be keeping an eye out to see if you're going to be playing near us (Wyoming) any time soon. thanks again.
Welcome Back! Hope the Irish Tour was a huge success, and can't wait to see pics and read all about it. I am still listening to your cd's non stop, almost bought a CD by one of my British favourites last night (Robbie Williams, his newest Escapology), but put it back thinking "what's the point, you only listen to the Elders anyway!" I love Hard Line ... and my little boy (7) loves singing "or bloody well fight!". Also got him singing tunes off the first CD too (What kind of animal .... he sings along in the back seat of the car). Even my 13 yr old hums along as we're driving. OK, enough of my drivel, can't wait to hear about the trip. Hope the jet lag isn't too bad.
I have seen your show on wednesday 24th of september at Killarney Grand hotel! (Ireland) I must say you did a really great job!I have never seen a band making such a great show with such a fine music!I liked it so very much! Thanks so much! You got a new group of fans in Germany!
Hey Guys, I would like to thank you for the absolut great and unforgotten hours of life we had in the Grand Hotel in Kerry (Ireland)!!! We stay in Kerry for three days and on the first evening we saw your show and it was absolut great and we had a lot of fun during we heard your songs. Thank you very much. Mathias Köhler and friends from Frankfurt/Main ( Germany )
So, it's like this. After seeing you gusy perform, my girlfriend and I decided to get hitched. Yep. We are engaged. You guys had more going on in Chicago than you know. So, thanks for a great arsekickin show in the Windy City. Come again soon. DO you guys play wedding? Ha!
Just wanted to say, that we caught your shows at the (Denver) Irish Festival in July and the Highland Games in Estes Park this month. I have your two previous CDs and bought your new one. Your new CD is the best and I've played it on my way to and from work everyday since I bought it. Can't seem to get enough of your sound, keep up the good work, and don't split-up the band, it's definitely an excellent mix of talent. You guys really rock! Wish I could get to Ireland to see you again (but just spent two weeks there in March; it was all sunshine; no rain or clouds the entire trip). Keep working on more shows in Colorado, we love your sound.
To the most amazing Irish rock band I've yet seen, I just saw your concert tonight at the Chicago Celtic Fest on September 13th- It was amazing fun!! I've never had such a fabulously happy time at a concert, the music was moving, your band is a group full to the brim with amazing, enthusiastic, talented and inspiring performers and I think as a result my new favorite music genre will now be Irish Rock, led by The Elders! Thank you so much for all you have given me and for how you've gifted the entire audience. Excellent show; surreal that it was free. I would love to be on an email list so that I knew where and when you all were playing- especially in the Chicago area. Kansas City doesn't know how lucky it is to have you! Your new and ecstatic fan
Please, please, please, please come back to Chicago soon!!! (Remember, I used the magic word). We enjoyed your show SO MUCH! Better yet, move here like you joked that you were going to do during your last show at Chicago's Celtic Fest! I would be there, at any venue, for sure. Good luck in Ireland.
We saw you guys preform on Thursday at Lucky Joe's, and on Saturday at the Festival Fairgrounds, and again on Saturday Night at the Holiday
Inn in Estes Park, and at the risk of sounding like groupies, we loved
all of the shows. We hope you had a great time, and we hope you all > have a wonderful trip to Ireland. Thanks again.
We had never heard of The Elders but saw you perform at the Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park. Our daughter is a
member of the Marine Corps Band that performed in the festival and we went to the Ceilidh with her one evening. We really enjoyed your music and meant to obtain a CD on the spot. We had a little too much Guinness that night, however, and ended up leaving without getting a CD. After returning home we did a little surfing and have found a web site where will be able to get a couple. One question: what was the title of the acapella number you did, and is it included on one of your CDs? What outstanding music! Thanks for the great entertainment.
We'll be keeping an eye out to see if you're going to be playing near us (Wyoming) any time soon. thanks again.
have been a follower of your band for a couple of years now. I first saw you all, before Ian, at JW McBrides in KC over St. Paddy's. I was with my sister and we both were instantly drawn to your music. Our mother was born in Ireland and all of her family is still there. I've been there to visit several times. So, I grew up listening to irish music. Anyway, I think your music is definitely "arse kickin"......especially since Ian joined the band. I have recruited many family members and friends to join me in seeing you guys in concert and each time they come away a fan. Even my husband gets into the music. So much so that he made sure we planned on attending the Irish Fest in KC....even as it rained 7-8 inches over that weekend. Much to our dismay, upon arrival at the park, we found out it was cancelled due to weather. So, we went to Hotel Phillips to hear you play. As it turned out, we got a table and had a blast. We bought the new CD and have listened to it many time since.....and that was just last weekend. Even our 2 boys ages 8 and 10 love your music. Two years ago, my son, who was 8 at the time, took your first CD to school on St. Paddy's Day. He had the entire 2nd grade going around singing What Kind of Animal. Thanks for giving us your gift of irish music to help pass on the heritage to our boys. We look forward to seeing you all at the Weston Irish Fest in October.
here's to a safe, healthy, successful 2nd tour of Ireland...and don't behave yourself all the time...American Wake is an amazing collection of tunes..you all have out done yourselves...Haverty Boys and Big Box Dinnie my favs in the footstompin' category...and the accappella ditty you wrote and the one about steamin dunghills are gorgeous songs...you did a nice job of varying your voice song to song to avoid monotony...very effective.
We've really enjoyed your performances at the Estes Park festival
the past two years -- both during the festival and the New Years Eve
festivities. You're one of a small select group where we buy every one of your recordings. I hope you'll be back at Estes Park next year, because if you are, so will we. We're east of the Mississippi, and we'll look for opportunities to see you guys perform any time in between. I wonder if you have any plans to record Pat Clancy's Wake. I have an old recording taken off of the radio, it doesn't match what you guys do (not even close), but I have to make do. Also, if any group should do a live CD, you guys should. It won't project anything close to the energy you project in a live performance, but it would still be fantastic. I wish you the best. From personal experience, I know how demanding travel can be, and I hope you guys are taking care of yourselves so we can enjoy your music for many years to come.
Estes Park has been blessed once again with fantastic music, a fantastic show and megawatts of energy! We were so happy to see that you guys were on the schedule for the festival. Hopefully, you'll be there next year . . . the next e:mail I'm sending is to the organizers to ask them to invite you again! Too bad most of your gigs are so far away. Thanks we had a great time!
I just wanted to say thanks to you and the guys for another great weekend up in Estes Park. Based on the crowds at your sets on the field, I would say your popularity in Colorado is growing by leaps and bounds. After Friday's first set, I found it hard to find a place to enjoy the rest of them. I had to settle for the ceilies each night : ) What a blast! I was one of those Irish dancers trying to keep up with Buzzzzz' Jig! Steve convinced me on Friday to buy all three CDs saying I wouldn't regret it and he was right. American Wake is amazing and the song writing talents of all of you just astounds me. Men of Erin is my favorite and nothing beats the live rendition you all did at the end of the ceilies. I always melt a little when I hear men singing harmony acapella : ) You all do it so beautifully. I deny anyone who has a heart not to be touched emotionally by that song. Thank you. I was in Estes Park last weekend and saw you perform for the first time. Wonderful, amazing, marvelous, outstanding, incredible, and spectacular are only some of the words I thought of after the show. The only problem with those words would be that they don't come close to describing how great you all are! I have never met another group that took the time you did to meet and greet the fans, I can see why you have a huge following and why it gets bigger every time you come on stage. I could listen to you all day, have actually, and never get tired of your voice and the rest of the group. There is a buzz going around Michigan (where I grew up) about this Irish Rock band that will be in Chicago next weekend, and if I have any say in it, everyone I know will be at your next show. Three hours isn't so bad especially when the thought of driving 18 hours one way is starting to sound appealing if it means seeing you in concert again. If for some reason I get roped in to working next weekend and can't see your show there have fun in Ireland and come back to Colorado soon!
Just a note to let you all know that I really enjoyed your performances at the Highland Fest in Estes Park. I bought your latest CD and almost have it worn out, as I played it the whole trip to Colorado and back home!! I love traditional Irish music and the twist you guys put on it. Here's hoping you'll come to Nebraska again soon and continue making the upbeat, energetic music for a long time!! I'd be happy to help out in any way and would like to start a Ne. fan club. I'm in the Mary Howard Irish dancers and we dance at a lot of benefits, so maybe we could get together on that. So thanks for the fun time in Estes and have fun in Ireland!
What a great night of music and fun....The Elders are what music is all about to me....fun...fun...fun!!! and you guys are damn good and obviously have a good time too! Bought your new CD, American Wake and listened to it on the way to work this morning...I was humming and light on my feet when I walked into the office....now, I need to work on our Music Director and see if he can get a couple of your songs on our "Diverse Music" program from 9-3 each weekday. We are the NPR radio station for northern colorado....best of luck to you, the lads and the band! We will look for you on your next trip to Colorado for sure!
Greetings ~
I picked up on some lively musical notes floating through the air during your engagement in Manitou Springs, Colorado as I was driving on my way to somewhere else. When told you are The Elders and that you would be playing at Tres Hombres in Woodland Park, Colorado my friend and I made it a definite point to go. attended the Erin Feis (Peoria IL) on Saturday and had the honor of hearing you play. In a word...WOW!!! My sister and her friend tagged along and I think to their surprise they really enjoyed themselves...you pointing us out and calling them gorgeous probably helped a bit too. There are very few bands I've seen live that I would pay to see again, but I returned on Sunday just for your show. I bought a c.d. and have played the bajesus out of it! However, I think what really won me over was the way you all interacted with the audience afterwards and were willing to sign c.d.'s and chat. I've told everyone that was "too busy" to come with me to see you they missed one hellofa show! I sincerely hope to see all of you again next year! I've been prompted by your e-mails to finally get on the web site and pay a visit. You gentlemen are one of the most butt kickin', entertainin' and crowd friendly bands that I've seen at Estes Park (CO) in a long time. I was told that last year at the Ceileh (sp.?) that as soon as you boys set up shop and started playing, that the entire crowd listening to the Rockness Monsters decided the horror was enough and flooded your arena. I loved the music at the fairgrounds and was amazed at the energy and outpouring of heart and soul at the concert. I know the gigs up in Estes Park have to be grueling for any musician. All day and half the night as well. We here in Colorado greatly appreciate the effort! I hope I can swing the $ to come up and see you gentlemen again this September. But if not, I'll party with you in my heart! My best to all of you!
Hello, My wife and attended both of your concerts in Peoria. You guys give a very fast paced, exciting, and enjoyable program. We could tell you were having a good time as well as the audience. We purchased both of your CDs. We appreciated you autographing them after Sunday's concert. You have great stage presence and spending time with people afterwards is appreciated. Please put us on your email list. We would very much like to hear you when you return to Illinois. Again thanks for two great shows Hello, my name is Cindy. I was in Chuyahoga Falls, oh in June. I went to the festival to see "Off Kilter" but when the schedule changed because of flight schedules I got the chance to see "the Elders". What a pleasant surprise. You guys were wonderful. Absolutely amazing! Love your music. Along with great music you put on a truly entertaining performance.
This is simply a request. COME TO LAWRENCE MORE OFTEN. I happened to catch your show at the Jazzhaus and I was infinitly impressed. I am a student at KU and I can guarantee that there will be many of us to watch. I will be checking your website and I hope you can make it. Thanks,
Once again, yall have performed flawlessly. I had a blast this weekend. I was so excited to finally have Tad with me. He has been hearing your CD's endlessly on our summer of roadtrips. I never fail in telling him how much fun it is to go to a live show. Now that he has experienced the whole kit and caboodle, I think he's hooked. He even wanted a T-Shirt, (But you were sold out) We will get one at the KC Irish Fest. My son was mildly upset that he missed the show. He loves coming! But we didn't know kids were allowed! Guess we will know better next time!
Dear Elders, Since we rarely miss your shows in Kansas City (although we've seen you in Weston too!), we thought you should know that The Elders played in our wedding! That is..... we played "Love of the Century" as "our song" during the ceremony. Hello Elders! My name is Summer and I know that I have written to you before, but I just can't stop thinking about your music! You are
all the best! Since I have been in the States, I have decided that my younger sister Colleen could travel over with me to meet you all and hear your music! I know that it will cost more to tae Colleen, but if it brought my spirits up, then it will definetely bring up hers! Thank you! I luv ya lads!
We were just in Breckinridge (CO) this past week and thoroughly enjoyed your concert! Our little six-year-old daughter came up on stage and danced with you guys. She almost fell off a few times, but had a blast. We live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and were wondering if you have any plans for concerts in this area. We have several friends that we'd love to take to your concert. Thanks again for a truly enjoyable evening. You guys are awesome!
Just by the off chance you werent joking with the statement "We are looking for a few volunteers to travel to Ireland with us in September",I am volunteering! My heart has been longing for some adventure and so here I am, jumping up and down with my hands in the air shouting "I want to go! take me! take me!"..(everyone here at work is staring at me , wondering if I have gone completely off...) Hello there!! Saw you play yesterday at the Colorado Irish festival & really enjoyed your show!! I'm listening to the cd now!! I wanted to stay to have you sign the cd, but I was late for a drinking engagement!! Lol. I would have even returned to hear you play today, but i had plans for 5 pm & knowing how sometimes things run on Irish time (been to Eire 3 times), I figured I'd be cutting it close. I'll definitely look for you at the festival in Estes park in September!! I see you're returning to Ireland soon!! If you were to kidnap me for the trip, i wouldn't fight ya!! Hope you're having a good visit to Denver & not roasting yerselves in our mile high sunshine!! Slan!!
Just wanted to drop you a note to say that I think you put on a GREAT show!! I caught your show July 3rd in Breckenridge Colorado, I see that you are going to be at the Colorado Irish Festival July 12th and 13th. I am looking forward to it!
We were able to catch your act at The Irish Festival (in Denver)this past weekend. After hearing you play, our daughter is going to go to the Long Peak Festival in Estes Park with us. Now I just got to get her to join our Clan. See you at the Ceilidh. We can't wait!
Caught two of your shows at the Denver Irish Fest. You guys stole the event, despite not being headliners. Bought your newest CD. Got kids in the KC area told them to get to a show. Keep doing what you are doing. You are on the right track. The thing I appreciated most, besides the music, was the enthusiasm you showed on stage. You guys seem to really enjoy what you are doing! It came through to the crowd! Keep up the good work. Will try to catch a show again!
I saw you guys in Vail (CO) at the Ford theatre and it was kool. My favorite was the one about Bin Laden and the troops. Or at least that is what I thought it said. I liked it! Rock on !!!!!!! You guys should consider backpacking.
You boys ROCKED Sat. night at Molloys!! I brought some friends in from out of town (Florida & Michigan) and they LOVED you! and are now traveling back home with several of your cd's to pass around! Hi Guys, Just saw you here in Ohio... Cuyahoga Falls, we are now gonna be your biggest fans! So happy we got your CD and you signed it. Everyone of you were super nice, great guys, my daughter is tryin to play your songs on her tin whistle, thanks so much for being so entertaining... fun and like you say keepin the heritage alive! Way too cool you guys are!
Thank you sooooo much for the best time Saturday night. I actually had a chance to talk to every one of you. You are all the nicest & most fun people that I've met in a long time. I'm originally from New Jersey (born & raised), and Kansas City has the best people. I'm glad I found out about you guys. You are the best. Thanks again...
We thoroughly enjoyed your last two outdoor events in Kansas City...the Celtic block party and Shawnee days. My daughter is a big fan now as well. She had not seen the Elders since the arrival of Tommy and Ian and she was very impressed. And it can be hard to impress an 18 year old! She has heard your CD, but feels you are even better live. I'd have to agree! It is hard to capture the energy and essence of your live performance. I guess sweat doesn't stick to the recording! Steve, is there anything you can do about that?!
Just wanted to thank you and the "lads" again for the best time my family and I have ever had at the Cuyahoga Falls Irish Fest. I have never gone back each day to see one of the bands perform until last weekend. Not only do I love how the band has its own unique celtic/Rock sound, but you guys have to be the friendliest most down-to-earth guys I have met. The time you graciously spent talking to my daughter Shannon, my wife Deb, and myself was something you didn't have to do, but shows what kind of guy(s) you really are. Since I can't move to Kansas City to see your shows regularly, and it may be a year before you return to Ohio (hopefully!), I am hoping to be able to catch your Chicago show in September. My wife loves visiting the city and if you guys are playing there it gives us an easy excuse to make the trip. We'll have to bring Shannon with us too, she would kill us if we didn't
take her for the show! In the meantime we will all be listening to the CDs, anxiously awaiting the release of the new one! Take Care, and remember us devoted Canton Ohio fans. Thanks again!
I had a great time at the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio Irish festival this past weekend. I was the one who had told you about finding my ancestors, Flannigan's. Kathleen Flannigan's you called me. And it touched me so deeply, to know that I have wonderful Irish roots. May God bless each and everyone of you. Keep the faith for Ireland.
Was on the venue with u'all at the Falls River Fest in Akron Ohio June 13th and 14th. My pub bands name is "Fergie and the Bog Dogs." Pushin 60 now and have been performing Irish music half my life.I never sang for the money. I always felt that in my humble way, I could help
create interest in Irish Culture. After seeing and enjoying your music, I feel the baton has been passed. The elders are solid as a brick in the wall. No doubt you will welcome many new and young people through the portal of Irish interest. Because of you, and your endeavor, they will experience the pride and joy of being Irish in this country.
Bravo! The Elders: great vocals, amazing musicianship skills,
and exciting and authentic Irish music. I was fortunate to have seen your band perform two times this weekend at the Cuyahoga Falls, OH Irish Festival! You guys ROCK! We spend most of the summer traveling to various Irish Festivals, and we agree your band is the most talented and entertaining Irish band out there! We sure hope that you will come back next summer! Thanks!
It was a truly wonderful treat to see you guys in concert in Cuyahoga Falls (OH) this past weekend. You guys made quite an impression on the crowds in your first trip to the Buckeye State. Four great shows in three wonderful days. We played your CDs all last night and the second is on now as I write. Thanks for a real treat. It was great to see your band, hear your stuff live and get a chance to meet you. Keep on keeping on.
Saw you guys in concert, at the old shawnee days festival. I thought you guys rocked, man. I am a soldier working at Ft. Leavenworth, with the 500th MP DET, I heard your song, message from the battlezone, it hit home. I think you if you guys played here, we army folk would love to hear it Dear Elders, I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!! It always brings a smile to my face :-D. All of you are very talented and play great and beautiful music. You are the only band that my family agrees on listening to in the car. I saw you guys play at Old Shawnee Days yestereday (Sunday, June 8th, 2003). My best friend and I were dancing up in front to like a lot of your music. I was the one in the red shirt, she was the one in the white shirt with a monkey on it. You guys performed at my uncle and aunt's wedding reception. They really appreciated it and I don't know if you heard my uncle when he said, " I don't want our wedding to be remembered as the night when KU lost". Well anyway, my name is Teresa Harkins, I'm 12 years old, and I LOVE YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!! I have to go my brother wants to go on :-(
First and foremost let me say how much I enjoyed hearing you at the Celtic festival (Atlanta) this weekend. I'm not necessarily the most articulate individual in person, but it truly was an incredible experience and I'm very much in awe of your talent. You have successfully knocked Paul McCartney's latest album out of my CD player for the foreseeable future - no small feat. I wanted to tell you again how much we appreciate you guys coming down and playing for us (Atlanta Celtic Festival). You are all true entertainers in every sense of the word, excellent musicians, and just super-nice guys... not a diva in the bunch! Hi! This is Michelle I was at the Celtic Festival (Atlanta) this weekend. I just wanted to let you know you know I enjoyed your performance soooo much. I had the best time, I just got back from my country and I was a little sad, you know, missing the fun we latins have... and when I saw you having so much fun singing with the elders I started feeling at home again. Thank you.
Everybody can tell how much fun you guys have when you play together, and, let me tell you, it is contagious! You guys are just great.
If there is anything I can do for you, here in Atlanta or with the spanish comunity just let me know... I'm already telling everybody about this new band I just found, so they'll listen to you.
I'll try to go back to the festival and see you guys again, but I don't know about tomorrow because I have to work, I'm a veterinarian technician. My little patients need me!! But I'll do my best.
I hope you have a good weekend, and it was a real pleasure meeting you,
Hello Elders, My name is Summer Donahue, and I just wanted to say that I was so overwelmed at the sight of your performances these past few weeks! I am from Cork in Ireland, and am over here to be studying to get some money to bring back home. I have been a little homesick not knowing anyone, so when I heard that a new hot band was playing, I went to check them out... Thank-you for making me feel so at home!!!:)
Just got home from your *amazing* show at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln NE.... Thank you for possibly one of the most 'kickarse' evenings out that I can remember in recent history... and that's no shite! :) My friends and I had a wonderful time. You guys were positively electric; we shouted, clapped, sang, stomped, laughed and whooped the whole time... it was like a great party, a wonderful family gathering...and I left breathless! You all have an amazing gift! Bless you for having the will to share it with the rest of us. Please consider making this a 'regular stop', I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms... (and maybe some pints... or a wee dram) Music is the soul of our humanity...thank you for that reminder tonight.
Thank you and the band for such a great evening last night in Omaha. Thanks for signing my cd's before you performed and for letting me get a picture taken with you. My husband passed away a year ago so I needed a fun night out. it was the best medicine... I would have danced but am a bit off balanced with my arm in a cast. I will be back in Nov to see all of you again. Hope I get the same table front and center. You are to be commended. Thank you again for sharing all your talents with the world. Good luck on the Irish trip and may the lord bless you and keep you safe.
What a special treat last night was at the Zoo bar! I haven't had that much fun for way too long! Jenna said her cheeks hurt from constantly smiling for three hours straight. She also reports cramped calves from all the jumping. 7:00 am came far too quickly but it was all worth it!!! I told all my Omaha people to check you out at the Dubliner tonight, I was even thinking of making the trip myself but I don't recover as quickly as I did in my early youth. I have a date with the couch tonight. Thank you so much for the beautiful and invigorating music and thank you also for taking the time to visit with us. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!! we will definately be watching for your return!
Hey guys, I gotta share! Through playing your CD's at home, I have found that you guys and your music, ALONE, are a FABULOUS reason to party!!! Who can listen to the Elders without dancing around with a beer?! THEN! With Devil's Tongue and the line "With whiskey on her breath" PLUS with that line in Blaze of Glory "smash that whiskey on the rocks" I know, I'VE just GOTTA! grab a shot of whiskey!!! Okay, maybe that's two shots, one per song! Hey! You bring the party on!! Long Live the Elders! And many THANKS for all that you give us!!!! : )
Ian, Many thanks to you and the Elders for a great St. Patrick's Day weekend! It was such a pleasure to meet your family. How proud they all must be!!! :-) Must tell you that Scott said that "what Michael Schumacher is to Ferrari...Ian is to the Elders"... Elevated a good team to GREATNESS!! Now THAT'S about as good as it gets from a motor head, or car geek, or whatever it is that you want to call him!! Anyway, we had a GREAT time meeting and visiting with everyone and soaking up the sounds of The Elders!!!! Always great to see you
I just wanted to say you guys put on one heck of a show. My famly is origionaly from KC and were up for St. Patrick's Day and my dad and i went to the hoolie. It was the best and funnest concert that I have ever been to. My dad Danny know's you and eddie delahunt and I've always heard my uncles talk about the elders and I'm glad I finaly got to go to a show. Eddie played at my grandfather, Pat o'Neill's, funeral a few years back and it was great to see him play during better circumstances. You guys relly put on a great show and I hope to come up and see you again for the Irish fest this summer.
Hey guys, Your Hoolie was wonderful! Our family had a great time. I wish we had planned to stay in Kansas City for St. Patrick's Day so we could have heard you playing at Westport. The Uptown Theater Personnel were quite nice. They let us in early since I am blind and needed to take care of both kids. Because of that we met Connie , Valerie and Phil Phillips. How cool are we? We also met and spoke with Ian's Mum and sister. What wonderful families you have! We have an in with two band members' families. We invited Ian's Mum and family to stay with us for the month of April. His sister hushed us quickly, saying she would take us up on it!
Just wanted to send a quick message to tell you that I appreciate the opportunity to come down and see you fellows. I told you brent, that the performance was one of the best I've ever seen and I really mean this. I know you'll duplicate it in july here in my town. All your families are invited, too. Ian, have your family come over. I'd like the chance to meet them. If they are anything like you, it will be a joy to have them. Lanny, you did a great job putting all of the gig together. I had a wonderful time and I was still stoked two hours later on my drive back home. But then, the day began to take it's toll and I had to grab a couple of hours of sleep to make it the rest of the way. Next time I'm staying the night. Getting too old for this! anyways, thanks again. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. give the lads my best. Take good care...
Hi Steve - I hope this doesn't come across as some cheesy fan comment, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to thank you for all the great music over the years. My brother introduced me to Steve Bob and Rich back in '83, and I've been a fan ever since. My favorite music, when asked, always involves the Rainmakers or the Elders. My 6 year old and 3 year old are huge fan of the Elders. Every morning the first question is 'Daddy, can we listen to Packy Go Home'? I plan to bring them out to Borders this weekend for your 'unplugged' performance. They've been asking me the past couple of days if its time yet! Of all the Rainmakers songs (and the Elders), your's have always been my favorite. Something about your writing hits home, and I appreciate that! I don't mean to sound like some psycho fan - just wanting to say Thanks!!! Keep up the good work and continue to bring this new style of music to the masses...I've let a few friends hear the new CD, and they've immedietly gone out and bought their own copy. The stuff you all are doing is definetly striking a chord!
Comments: I saw you at Molloys last evening, March 16th. Hope you heads are feeling better than mine. you guys are truely one of the best bands Ive seen. It is nice to see so much positive energy and talent, especially in these times. see you soon.Happy St. Pats day
Hi, we were at your Uptown Theater show last night. What a great show, we really enjoyed your enthusiasm and tremenndous energy, not to mention the great music. Good luck to the band and hope you go far. We purchased your CD and are now enjoying it!
WOW! What a show! You guys were sooooo wonderful! The best show ever! You could tell how much preparation you put into it. All your special effects were awesome! You should have been on MTV! Were there any reviews in the KC papers? Be sure to put them on your web site! We all enjoyed both nights so much. St. Joe was nice, because we could actually talk to all of you. Guess you could tell that our husbands are becoming your fans as well! Have you all recuperated from the hectic St. Pat's week? By Monday you had to be dragging! I've heard you many times when you stop by the Star 102 Radio station and play a tune or two and I'm hooked on your music! Just this past week as I was driving to work, there you were on Star 102 again playing a wild and crazy song from your new CD - luckily I had arrived at my work location and I just parked the car, sat and listened and used my steering wheel as a drum so I could jam along with you! That was the most awesome song!
It never ceases to amaze me. Every time I am fortunate enough to see your band live, it is a true blessing to the ears and soul and we weren't disappointed - The Uptown show was phenomenal!! Our kids were singing and dancing but not as much as Mom and Dad! The lights, the special effects and the throngs of people were all very visually appealing, but they were nothing in comparison to the sound of a great band at play. Something of this magnitude is definitely not work...and if it is, you boys sure now how to make it seem like it's nothing BUT fun up there. This was our first Hoolie and as we left in the wee hours of the morning, we already planned to attend next year's event. Thank all for another wonderful event we could share with our children who are now growing up with your music...and what better music to choose! We are also happy beyond words that we will be sharing our 10th wedding
anniversary, to the day, with our favorite band at Danny's on the 12th! How lucky are we?!?!?!? Will the DVD be ready by then? We will have money in hand...:-)
I just thought I would thank you for the St. Patrick's Hoolie. That was some of the best music I have heard in a very long time. I also want to thank you for the way you danced. You had my mind going. :) I hope you will continue to create music for later generations. I look forward to seeing you again. :)
Aha, me boys...'tis five long days 'til Saturday and the long anticipated Hoolie! I am ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the best damn Celtic rock band around! And better yet, I'm surely bringing my good friends
and some of my family with me. We've tried to pass the good word along about the Elders to all of our fellow music lovers...Irish or not...and you haven't disappointed anyone. Keep up the good work. Your energy and enthusiasm is a pleasure to behold. 'Til Saturday then? P.S. Will we be seeing any kilts on stage then? And as much as I enjoy Eddie Delahunt's singing...that's not why I'm asking! :)
Hello Guys! Love to watch you live every chance I get. When you played in January at Malloys I made my whole office come and see what I was fussin' about. Now you have 5 new fans! It is not hard to brag on a group such as yours! Keep up the great work. April 6th is my 40th birthday and I plan on trying to catch a live show to celebrate it!! Happy St. Pats!
I love the new CD. The band is amazing, and you have such an incredible voice. "Love of the Century" is my new favorite song - typical woman, you know. Anyway, I just wanted to say keep up the great work. I hope to catch one of your sets again soon. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Went to your concert last night at the uptown with my Husband and his Aunt and Uncle. Stayed up way past by my bedtime, but, loved every minute of your performance. I have had a long and happy love affair with Irish music, but have never heard anything quite like The Elders. You all are great - the music was wonderful and the entertainment was the best. I know we'll be seeing you again and we bought a CD last night so I have that for now. I must confess I could listen to Brent play the fiddle forever. Good luck with your tour - take care and come back to Kansas City - we love you.
Elders and especially Ian, Well, what can a mother say--you made a little boy's dream come true. Danny was on cloud 9 for days following your concert at Rockhurst High School's- crossing the bridge series. He (and I) so love your music and energy. As you can tell Danny is a high energy kid, who truly loves to sing and dance. He just really connects with your wonderful irish music. Thanks so much for letting one of your youngest fans be on stage with you. That night will always be a special memory and an unforgettable moment in his life.
Hello Steve! (and all you talented lads!) I especially enjoyed you guys at the "Wright" church on the Plaza last weekend! It was hard to stay seated, but your sound was GREAT! I bought several (3) of your C.D.'s after the concert and you were all so nice (and charming!) to meet. I was the dark haired fan who exclaimed "that 3rd one is for ME!" You cleverly started to autograph it "Thanks Me".... Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your FINE music is keeping us Artists who have to work late, ALIVE and KICKIN' ! We're here at Hallmark enjoying your music! I'm a Sculptor,as well as Designer for the Company, so if there's anything any of you need in the way of artwork, please let me know. I'll be joining you lads soon again! Thanks for sharing your talents with the rest of us!
Hi Elders, Just wanted to say how much my son and I really enjoyed the (Community Christian Church) concert. My son, Danny, was the little boy in the Elders ball cap, he knows every song on your 2nd CD. Ian pointed to him and called him "Packy". Danny counted how many times Ian "looked at him", he will always remember that night! Thanks for your wonderful music..I really enjoyed the smaller (no bar) venue. When will the next CD be coming out? Danny dances and sings to this one everyday--I like it but.....!!!
Dear Elders, I've been wanting to write you guys for months. My girlfriend and I saw you at the Scottish Festival in Estes Park, Colorado last September. My only regret is that we did not stay in town to see you perform later that evening at the Holiday Inn Conference Center. Judy and I cherish the autographed CD, "Pass it on Down". We just can't seem to get enough. Judy and I are both of Scottish decent and just so thoroughly enjoy your music. Ian, I remember you saying you're a cabinet maker. I work at the University of Northern Colorado as a Senior Construction Project Manager for the University and the State of Colorado. I also wore my tools as a gypsy carpenter for 15-16 years. Must be some weird kinship with woodworkers and the music. Please, please come back to the Scottish Festival again next year. Judy
and I try to make it every year. Again, thanks so much for your music, spirit and energy. The CD does not do justice to your live performances. With warm celtic hearts,
Hey, Elders! My sister and I saw you last night at Molloy Brothers. What an AWESOME performance by all. We especially liked the song"In Your Arms". New, isn't it? To us, there is really nothing better than watching (and listening!) to a music group that loves what they do and have fun doing it. That is so obviously what you gentlemen do. It is part of your charm. Now we, especially me, anxiously await the release of your new CD and seeing you in person once again. My feet still haven't touched the floor......
Great News on the ESPN gig. Elders music and Bass Fishing. It don't get much better than that--at least for this ol' country boy. Carla and I sure enjoyed the New Year's Eve show. You guys were on top of the on top of it. Brent (and the rest of you) the Love of the Century (?) is pure magic. I listened to that early a.m. January 1 over and over. Simply beautiful!! The rest of the CD is just fabulous as well. Nice work all the way around, songs, parts, performances, and production. And what a piece of work that cover painting is. Where can I get a print of that? (half kidding, but not really if they are available). All you fellas were burnin' but it was a special treat for me to hear Tommy playing them there bang bang thangs. Dude if they could bottle up that tight and crispy groove you'd be able to buy Ross Perot, Microsoft, and eat buffets every day for at least a year. Steve, if you talk to Fast Johnny tell him howdy for me. I know (I think) he did another record with you after Driving me Blue? I guess if so that its available in stores around town? That guy is THE MAN. A great Austin City Limits would be the Elders and Fast Johnny. Kind of a KC thing. If they are still doing that show I don't see why something like couldn't happen. Have your people call my people and we will put it together (har har). We simply need to get 10 or 20 pounds into their earholes. Love, Peace and all the Rest,
Hello Elders...My cousin Mary Catherine and I would like to say how GREAT a band you are!!!!!!!!You are the BEST in the whole wide world!!!!!!Well thankyou, and please could you put us on the message board if you have the room???Thank you very much!!!!!:)
OK, I admit that I'm very late to this dance, but here's my
two cents anyway... My favorite song is Keeping the Faith. I think that it is the perfect song to end the night on, and what's more, it's the song that sums up why I'm out there having a great time with my friends listening to this great band. I think it should be your "theme" song. I think your T-shirts should have "Keeping the Faith" proudly displayed. Your trip to Ireland could be the "Keeping the Faith" tour. Maybe I'm reading a little too much into it, but that song seems to express why your fans love to see your shows. On the other hand, I could have had way too many tonight... See you Sunday!
Hi Guys! I caught you last week at the Dubliner Pub, here in Omaha, NE. I have to say that you guys are by far the best band to come around here in quite some time. I am becoming more of a fan of "Celtic Rock" everyday, and The Elders has definitely cemented that. Not to compare your sound to any other band, but I have not felt like your music made me feel since listening to another Celtic Rock band called Flogging Molly. I have caught them live twice, and your show had as much energy as their's, if not more. And the music stands up to any other out there. Thank you for making the trek up to Omaha....and PLEASE, come back soon!!
All I have to say is that I love you all. You are all the most talented and gifted musicians today. Your music comes from the heart that is why! God bless you, what you are doing, and your families! I tell all my family and friends about you, and will continue to!!! I
hope and pray for the best for you all, and I know there are great and more wonderful things ahead for you!
Hello! By any chance, were you guys playing at the New York Marathon? I was standing in a long line for the loo before the race,
and I heard the sounds of your music wafting from the stage, alas, out of sight. I heard at least a couple songs of yours, the last being the
slow one off the new album, where you had us sing along in Weston. If
it wasn't you, someone was playing your CDs, as I'm pretty sure it was
a local DJ spinning the tunes. Just wanted to let you know, hearing my favorite hometown band was one of the things that made my day, that quelled the rumblings in my nervous tummy that morning. (I even bragged to the guy from Dublin standing in front of me!) You are famous, at least among nutty marathon runners. It was a gorgeous but cold morning, blue skies, right next to the dramatic Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Staten Island into Brooklyn, and your music was playing for 32,000 people as we prepared for our big day. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Joe Farrell is right on!----you do better than "first rate" with your music and stage presence. It was great fun to hear and enjoy your talents at Eddie's fund-raiser at St. Agnes last Wed. eve. Would love to have given you my personal thanks, but circumstances didn't permit---will attend to that at a later date. Thanks again for the good craic'
Greetings...Always enjoy seeing you perform. But last night's (10/16/02) benefit for Eddie at St. Agnes was one of the most grand performances I have witnessed. Your spirit, enthusiasm, warmth and love for your music is so delightfully apparent, and absolutely infectious to all who can hear and see you. God Bless you for your contribution to a special night for Eddie....
Well what can I say, you played here at Johnnie Fox's Pub last night, for the first time, and judging by the performance and the
enthusiasm of the guests it will not be the last time you play at this venue which is known throughout Ireland as the "Highest Pub in the land" with live traditional music 7 nights a week, so we do know our bands. You are a talented band with a solid future, please feel free to list us as a return venue on your next Irish Tour and feel free to list our entire staff as new found fans - I noticed many CD's passing hands
last night.
I am a Student at Maynooth College in Dublin. I am from Austria. I saw your band in our Concert Hall. I talked to Ian. You are wonderful band and your Music is for my heart. I empty my pockets to buy your music. Thank you,
you lads were brilliant. I saw you at the meetings Avoca. I know you were only going to be in Ireland for a few days so I also went to see you at Johnnie foxes. the meetings gig was good, but Johnnie foxes was pure energy like nothing I have ever experienced. a bunch of lads from Kansas and one Wicklow lad playing Irish rock music that made the hair on my neck stand up. it was incredible. thank you and I hope you come back to Ireland soon.
Hello Elders. Do you remember us? We are the three German girls who were at your show in Cork (Ireland) yesterday. We just want you to know that you put on the most AMAZING performance that we have EVER seen. We cannot afford to go to the USA to see you, so if you ever come to tour Germany, PLEASE, PLEASE, include our home city of Frankfurt in your schedule.
I felt compelled to write after witnessing your incredible show at Dublin City University. I was always under the impression that the only people that could play Celtic Irish rock were Celtic Irish musicians. Boy was I wrong! Your show was so intense and high energy that it would put many Irish rockers that I know to shame. Come back and see us anytime.
Saw you at the Irish Festival in Weston, MO and really enjoyed your show. The combination of great music and humor made the event most lively (the beer helped, too). Was just wondering how you enjoyed your
trip to Ireland. Maybe you could post pics to your website?
Hi! I was at your gig in Estes Park (for the Highland Festival) and I had to let you know that you are one of the most rocking bands I've ever seen! Maybe you remember me; I was wearing a red plaid skirt and a blue shirt.....I was sitting with my friend who played your tambourine (she loves you guys too, go figure). Anyway, I really had a blast, and I hope (no, I WILL) see you guys again if you ever come back to Colorado (please do!) Keep on rockin'!!
Dear Elders, Hi to all the guys in our new favorite band!
Just had to tell you how glad we all are we made fools of ourselves and followed you to St. Joe from Colorado last Friday!!! If our husbands weren't beginning to wonder if we were ever coming home, we might have followed you to Omaha too! Actually we should have, we're hooked on you guys and your music, and now we're going through withdrawal...and it's not fun! Thank goodness for your CD's. My husband is enjoying them too, he'd have to, as much as I play them! You guys did a great job at the Long's peak festival. The
concert at the Holiday Inn was one of the best times I've had. My friend and I stayed up too late, got up too late on Sunday, and got home to our wives in Littleton, CO too late.... So we are nursing 10 pound ear holes. Today it's about down to a 1 pounder. Anyway, you guys are great. Best of luck to you all on your travels back to Ireland.
I just enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the Long's Peak Festival in
Estes Park, CO. The Elders were truly a highlight of the festival! Your high energy tunes were so enjoyable that we couldn't resist them -
all of us feisty Scottish-American Lassies dragged the men from the pipe bands (or as we call them - studs in kilts) and the young (and somewhat flustered) Marines out on the floor to dance... The just-off-the-farm military men were definitely not used to such high-spirited pretty redheads! The question is... who do we talk with to get you into a bigger venue for the daytime concerts next year? (The evenings in the ballroom were wonderful, but there wasn't enough room to dance at the tent you were in during the day) Let me know and I'll start petitioning! Also - any Denver performances in the future? We were sad to hear that you were not based here in beautiful Colorado... Just wanted to say thanks for the great shows!! I just saw The Elders for the first time at the Longs Peak Highland Fest in Estes Park, Colorado. I watched you play during the day and came to the ceildh at night based on your daytime performance. What incredible energy you have and give to the crowd. You truly were one of the top attractions at the festival - and that says a lot!! Keep it up boys!
I just wanted to thank you guys for such great performances, some major talent and major spirit you got there! I was so jazzed. Will look forward to more concerts, more cd's, more embarrassment as you go on and on about my eyes in front of God and everybody! Hello - Thank you so much for introducing me to your music on Saturday night. I had a fantastic time at the Ceilidh. This was my first time up there for other than the tattoo and field events, so I didn't realize that there was more than one room with music. I stayed for the duration of the Rock Ness Monsters set and though it was enjoyable I wish that I had been able to catch all of your set. Thanks again for the wonderful night of music. I have been blasting your CD's everywhere I go. It is great music to work at the barn to. The horses seemed to enjoy it too. Take care.
Click Here to contact the EldersWhat a fantastic sound!........You have touched my "Celtic" soul with your performance Friday night in Kansas City. Ian Byrne's lead and enthusiasm is incredible. Every time I see "The Elders" I can't beleive how polished you have become. Stay with boys......Your Great!......Remember 1849.
